Thumbprint Gallery is pleased to present San Diego based artist Ricardo Ales in his first solo exhibition Of/About. Of/About is an exhibition drawing from ideas that surround art practiceconversations that occur everyday around artworks and between artists. Ales grew up around more cats than is probably reasonable to have in one household and that is the reason for the feline overload in the exhibition. They serve as anchors for the conceptual aspects of the work. As funny, adorable, or disturbing as they may be, the cats are a vehicle that allow for the ideas to mobilize. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th (510pm). Beer and sangria will be available. Ricardo Ales will be present.
A graduate of UCSD, Ricardo Ales (b. 1993, Los Angeles, CA) received his BA in Studio Art from UCSD’s Visual Arts Department. Of/About will be his first solo gallery exhibition after participating in several group exhibitions around San Diego, CA where he currently lives and works.
